Box Corp is a 2D physics based factory sorting game. Combine simple machines to sort boxes by size, weight, and magnetism to filter disallowed items and incinerate them. As the game goes on, more types of cargo will be added meaning your machinery will become ever more convoluted and failure prone. You must grapple with limited space and crossing paths as your factory becomes a beautiful mess of boxes.
The game runs on a grid, with only one machine allowed per grid square. The most basic machine is, unsurprisingly, a conveyer belt that comes in three different speeds, which is implemented with a simple effecter. There are also trapdoors that drop boxes over a certain weight, tubes that lift boxes of only specific sizes and a magnet that can only pull metallic boxes. Additionally there are utility machines like fans and solid blocks. Allowed boxes must be delivered to the far right of the factory, while disallowed boxes must be incinerated in the fire at the bottom of the factory.
The contents of the boxes have been carefully selected so that every particular aspect has at least one allowed and disallowed object to complicate sorting. Players can’t simply concentrate all large objects, for example. The directionality of the machines has also been carefully selected, heavy objects can only be sorted down, small objects can only be sorted up, and magnetic objects can only be sorted to the side. These limitations mean factories must have snaking and confusing layouts which are a lot of fun to design, watch operate and eventually see fail catastrophically.
