A very brief playthrough of Experiments in Magic.

Sous is an idle clicker game with an extremely simple gameplay loop. A carrot flies in from the left, chop it into as many pieces as you like then push it into the stew and repeat. The game keeps track of how many pieces of carrot have been added to the stew. 

Though little more than a tech demo, it’s surprisingly satisfying and addicting. The player moves their mouse downwards, emulating the motion of a chopping knife with each slice. Then they use the knife itself to push around the pieces, in a way that feels very realistic to chopping vegetables for your own stew in real life.

Sous shows how simple modules like mesh slicing and Unity’s built-in Rigidbody system can be combined in a relatively straightforward way to become a game that’s more than the sum of its parts.

Sous was a solo project made in 36 hours for Devs that Jam 36-Hour Challenge #12.
